Easy Beef Tikka Doner Kebab Recipe (Viral Turkish-Style Kebab)

I’m usually not someone who jumps on every trending or viral recipe, but this one looked too fun and delicious to ignore so I finally gave it a try last week. Of course, I had to add my own Pakistani spin to it, so I created a beef tikka version of the viral Doner Kebab recipe that everyone seems obsessed with right now. And honestly? It was totally worth it. The best part is how effortless it is: no standing by the stove, no complicated steps, just mix everything, bake, and you’re done. It comes together in minutes, the texture turns out incredible, and the flavour is pure comfort. My kids devoured it, I enjoyed the whole process, and I’m pretty sure this is going into our weekly meal rotation because it’s just that easy and that good.

SET:

chef-hatMince (Beef/Chicken) 1 kg
chef-hatSalt 1.5 tsp
chef-hatOnions 3 big (chopped)
chef-hatGreen chilies 6-7 (finely chopped)
chef-hatGinger Garlic Paste 1.5 tbsp
chef-hatRed chili powder 1.5 tsp
chef-hatTurmeric powder 1/2 tsp
chef-hatAll spice powder 1.25 tsp
chef-hatCumin powder 1.5 tsp
chef-hatCoriander powder 1.5 tsp
chef-hatChili flakes 1.5 tsp
chef-hatYoghurt 2 tbsp (heaped)
chef-hatVeggies of your choice for grilling (optional)

GO:

chef-hatPreheat oven to 200°C / 400°F (fan 180°C).
chef-hatMix all the ingredients (except veggies of your choice) listed above either in a big bowl or food processor as shown in the video below. Mix well until everything is fully incorporated. Let it rest for 20–30 minutes for deeper flavour. (if you’ve time)
chef-hatNow on a sheet of baking paper scoop out some of the mixture, cover it with same size baking paper and spread it using a rolling pin in a thin layer.
chef-hatRemove the top baking paper and wrap the mixture into rolls.
chef-hatRepeat this step until your meat mixture is finished.
chef-hatNow place the rolled sheets of meat on the baking tray, you can add veggies of your choice to grill on the side.
chef-hatBake them for 13-15mins.
chef-hatTake the kababs out and unwrap them. At this stage they’re done you can directly use them in wraps, over fries or salads. But if you like them a little crispy, pop the unwrapped meat strips in the oven for 7-10 more mins.
chef-hatEnjoy your homemade doner kababs however you like. I made meat on chips for the kids and for us adults, i rolled them into wraps with the grilled veggies and some sauces.

Here’s a quick video to help you understand it a bit more and see how I make it:

MY TWO CENTS:

  • Adjust the spices/chilies to suit your taste buds.
  • Watch the video to see how I make it with less efforts.
  • Yoghurt shouldn’t be too runny, use greek yoghurt for better results.
  • Use roasted and crushed cumin and coriander powder in kabab for an enhanced flavour.
  • You can make them in bulk and keep in refrigerator for 2-3 days or alternatively freeze them for longer time.

Hope you’ll enjoy trying it out.
