GET:
A pan
Bowl for mixing
Teaspoon
Beater
Toaster (optional)
SET:
Bread slices 3-4 (preferably brioche)
Egg 1
Sugar 3 tsp
Cinnamon powder 1/4th tsp
Milk 200ml
Vanilla essence 1/2 tsp
Butter for frying
Choice of berries (optional)
Whipped cream (optional)
Golden/Maple syrup (optional)
GO:
1. In a mixing bowl, crack an egg, add sugar, cinnamon powder and mix
2. Stir in the milk
3. Finally mix in the vanilla essence and set aside.
4. This step is optional – toast your bread slices
5. Soak the bread slices in the mixture that you just made.
6. In a pan, melt some butter (make sure you do not burn it).
7. Once the butter is warm, introduce the soaked bread slices in the pan and fry them on both sides (to your desired level of done-ness)
8. Plate them out and finish off with whipped cream, your choice of berries and syrup.
My Two Cents:
Now the Top Tips to make Best French Toasts after 10 years of learning experience:
- Use Thick cut bread (preferably brioche)
- Toast the bread slices before dipping them in the mixture
- Soak the bread just right – enough so that the mixture seeps through but not too much that the bread breaks as you transfer it to the pan
- Fry in butter instead of oil
- Fry a little more till bread turns brown for that crunchy on the outside and melt in the mouth, soft texture from the inside.
