I wasn’t in the mood to make dinner, but I had no choice so I went for the easiest, quickest option I could make. A fast and delicious Chicken Jalfrezi recipe that comes together in no time. I scanned my refrigerator for options and realised I had everything I needed for a simple homemade Chicken Jalfrezi. That’s how I saved myself from spending too long in the kitchen, yet still served a flavour-packed dinner with enough leftovers for the next day. A total win-win!

Khichdi – A Simple & Quick Comfort Food
A couple of weeks ago, HI asked me to make khichdi, and it hit me how rarely I cook it these days. It used to be such a staple at my nani’s (grandmother’s) home, and I absolutely loved having it for dinner there. Fresh, aromatic, steaming rice and lentil mix straight out of the pot, we’d usually enjoy it with leftover curry from lunch or with raita and those spicy onions she’d specially make for my nana (grandfather). Those were truly the days.

One pot and yakhni pulao usually don’t go together but I’ve cracked the code to prepare a pulao (or pilau as some people say) in one pot for those days when you’re craving it but don’t wanna go through all the steps or just don’t have the time and energy to use (and wash) multiple pots.

Authentic Karachi-Street Style Bun Kababs
The last time I had Bun Kabab from ‘thela‘ (mobile cart) was 2 years ago, we were on a brief trip to Karachi, I was 7 months pregnant with Jucy Yusi and despite of clear instructions from midwife to eat only healthy food, I went ahead with consuming it coz how can you not have bun kabab when you are in Karachi? (I had to face the consequence after wards in the form of diarrhea but that’s another story). So, this lockdown, I started craving for bun kababs and the only way I could have them here (whether it’s lockdown or no lockdown) is to make myself. There’s no way out! Once you start craving anything, you’re trapped. You are the only one who can get you out, else it will keep haunting you. The irony. Anyways, with the craving increasing day by day, I gave in and made it so that I can move ahead with life.

I’ve been meaning to share this recipe since ages now. The last time I tried taking pictures in the camera, it turned out that the memory card was absent and all the pictures I took were just a mirage (obviously HI was responsible for it, haha). I’ve been making this shinwari karahi a lot ever since I’ve tried the recipe ( it’s now a must item in my dinner and lunch parties) but we always end up eating it before i can take pictures for the blog. So, this time I made sure that the pictures are shot before the consumption because there are absolutely no leftovers from the karahi. Yes, it turns out that scrumptious! No joke

I love to eat meat and most of the times you’d hear me saying ‘agr biryani bananay ki mehnat krni hi hai to gosht ki hi banao bhyee‘ (Make biryani with meat bruh if you are doing so much effort) *insert facepalm emoji here*. But last week I was so done with eating meat, didn’t want to have daal chawal either so I came up with this recipe. Surprisingly, it turned out good. Even HI looked impressed with daal. Haha
Initially I didn’t plan on sharing the recipe but many of you asked for it when I showcased it on my Instagram stories, lol. So here it goes..

Hey-lo peeps,
Today I am sharing a quick, easy and very basic recipe of Tomato Chutney (tamatar ki chutney). About 91% of the people voted in favor of sharing the said recipe in the poll on my Instagram stories. So, here I am with the very basic version of Tomato Chutney (tamatar ki chuntey). This is how I make it, you can certainly add more ingredients like chopped garlic or julienne onions to it but I will stick to the main goal of my cooking blog part by keeping it as simple and effortless as possible
Kharay Masalay Ka Qeema – A very easy beef mince recipe
During the initial years of marriage, the only beef mince recipe I used to make was the evergreen Aalu (matar) qeema. Later on, I got bored with it because you know life needs variety – your taste buds demand even more!! Haha
Due to the stated reason the historical advent of experimenting Kharay Masalay ka qeema (keema) happened and it turned out so yum, seriously! I now make it alternately with Aalu qeema.
