Livin’ La Vida Loca – Life Changing Events!

Tena koutou — Greeting to you all,

It’s been ages since I have posted anything on the blog, I so miss writing and talking to you all via my blogs. I have been trying to update my Facebook and Instagram though but that too is not being done regularly, my bad. Those of you who follow my Snapchat and Insta stories might have an idea what is up with me these days and for all others, you’ll get to know about it by the time you’ll finish reading this article 🙂

A lot has happened in our lives, many things have changed in the past month. I was so damn busy with all the Iftar parties in Ramadan and just when I thought I am done with those a new task was standing right in front of me. I had to pack all the stuff (not for visiting Karachi on account of Eid only) and say bye bye to ever so amazing city, Dubai!

Even though I was prepared for it but it was so early to leave, I had restocked groceries for upcoming months just a few weeks ago. Anyhow, we performed the daunting task of loading all our belongings in packages within 4 days (yesss, only in 4 days). It was such a challenging job but we came out successful alhamdulillah. Catch some glimpses of our apartment below while the packing was in progress… (How we managed to pack the goods and chattels in such a short time is another loooong topic altogether, will be doing a separate post on it with all the lessons learnt soon inshaa Allah)

Shortly after we flew to Karachi we found ourselves even more busy with typical Karachi -visitng-affairs. The trip can be characterized as conventional journey back home on Eid, pretty much the same as we normally experience with visiting all the relatives, catching up with friends, running on last minute shopping escapades and ‘not’ eating anything off the list ( I always have wanted to try Alamgir k lacchay dar parathas but haven’t been able to get my hands over them till now 😦 not in any trip IMAGINE ).

Three weeks went by in a blink and I was packing our bags again… this time for New Zealand with a short stay in Dubai for 2 days in between. We were entering Dubai as a tourist, felt strange but that is what you are in Dubai even with the residence visa. You never know when you have to leave the place that too within a short one month notice… :/

Anyways, we enjoyed our trip loads. Went shopping the first day. Visited Motiongate and Bollywood Parks in Dubai Parks & Resorts the second day, had an amazing time exploring the parks irrespective of the fact that it was hot and humid (that is what Dubai is all about in summers). The queue and wait times were almost zero partly because of the climate and partly because we chose a weekday to go there. I’d still say that Universal Studios top the list of theme parks in our ranking though! I’ll be sharing a complete video of our experience soon on the blog as well, stay tuned for it 😉

2 days up and we found us bracing ourselves for a 15 hour long flight to Auckland (I know, the ‘Trip of Lifetime’ series isn’t finished yet and I am back here again *insert hands over eyes emoticon here*… I am gonna complete that soon now inshaa Allah. Read about a long haul flight experience I have shared earlier here). Surprisingly the flight was full and we had to manage in the 3 seats we booked (I was so looking forward to sleep on empty seats but alas :p ).

A very cold, rainy and super windy Auckland welcomed us on Friday afternoon. We traveled from:

  • 47 to 7 degree celsius
  • summers to winters
  • desert to greenery
  • the mid (almost) to start of the world
  • GMT +4 to GMT +12

Sounds interesting! Right? Lol. Ray and Noman bhai came to pick us up from the airport, they had prepared a feast for us at their place. All thanks to Ray for cooking the scrumptious food for us which tasted delish after the super long and tiring plane ride.

Today marks our 3rd day in this beautiful city – writing while sitting inside in a warm room overlooking a breathtaking landscape, cloudy sky and a water bank outside – sounds so filmy, No? Check out yourself below 😀

long winter nights with heater ON in this part of the world

Ray had planned a get together with the Kiwi women yesterday, I went there with her and met some really fine and amazing ladies. They all were so cheerful and welcoming. All in all, so far so good…

I personally am quite excited about finding and decorating our new home over here. Let’s see how things roll… *fingers crossed*
Do remember us in your prayers that we get settle here soon. Aamin 🙂

This is it from my side for now.. this was a loooong story cut short. Lol, I know I am bad at summarizing but I hope you enjoyed the roller coaster ride of bouncing from one place to another with me in a month’s timeline. Did you? Let me know what’s up with you? I’d be glad to hear from you as well 🙂

Ka kite ano — Until I see you again (Bye)

Dubai is a dream place to live in for people like us but there are some factors on the basis of which leaving Dubai becomes the obvious choice, if you have one!
by the way I am also anxiously waiting for that part now… fingers crossed 🙂
